In my 4 years as City Councilmember I’ve worked in El Cerrito to:
- put our city budget back on a path to solvency and sustainability;
- seek a review of police policies and tactics so Council and our community can determine how best to improve community safety and justice;
- help lead the effort in 2018 to make El Cerrito a Charter City — allowing millions of dollars to once again be raised annually for our General Fund;
- help prevent wildfires and improve our disaster response capability;
- support our library and protect the additional hours of operation;
- extend the expired parcel tax in 2019 (Measure H) which supports our pools and recreational facilities;
- establish inclusionary zoning and more affordable housing;
- create a Tenant/Landlord Task Force and rent registry to monitor rent increases and help prevent wrongful evictions;
- create a safe exchange zone for residents at our police station parking lot;
- establish El Cerrito as a Sanctuary City;
- bring holiday lights to San Pablo Avenue and the El Cerrito Plaza;
- raise the minimum wage;
- support greater transparency for city events, policies and procedures;
- support smart growth around our BART transit hubs and along San Pablo Avenue;
- support a plastic food ware ban;
- be as accessible as I can to constituents needs and issues.
